 OBJECTIVES

Arctic Transect 2004 is a collaborative effort developed by the Department of Curriculum & Instruction at the University of Minnesota and NOMADS Online Classroom Expeditions by NOMADS Adventure & Education.

Every year, NOMADS Online Classroom Expeditions use the allure of the Polar Husky sled dogs, the magic of the Arctic, the simplicity of wilderness travel and appreciation of traditional cultures as a spring board to promote innovative education opportunities.

The arctic expeditions provide a thrilling backdrop for engaging multidisciplinary learning. The daily living curriculum fuels curiosity. Curiosity sparks learning.

Our Learning Objectives

  • Restore, teach, and open communication on traditional issues between elders and youth
  • Strengthen interest in traditional knowledge
