Sámi Conference

 

The highest decision making organ of the Sámi Council, the Sámi Conference convenes every four years since 1992 (1953-1992 every three years). The member organizations of the Sámi Council in Sweden Finland and Norway appoint twenty representatives each and the Sámi of the Kola Peninsula five to make a total of 65 delegates. The Conference appoints fifteen members to the Sámi Council, five from Norway, four each from Sweden and Finland and two from Russia.

The Sámi Conference deals with and decides on proposals made by the Sámi Council, and it approves reports. It has ratified the Sámi flag, the Sámi national anthem and various policy agendas.
